Cabral Sends Fans Home Happy in Ninth

(LANCASTER, CA) Wednesday at the Hangar, the JetHawks welcomed thousands of students on Education Day. The energy around the ballpark was palpable, and the JetHawks channeled that enthusiasm into a great effort in the rubber match against the San Jose Giants, winning the game 4-3 on a ninth inning single from Marcos Cabral.

Shane Wolf sparkled as the starter role, yielding only two runs in six and a third innings, his longest outing of the system. Wolf struck out two and walked none. San Jose starter Scott Barnes gave up 3 runs (2 earned) and was chased in the fifth inning.

In the first inning, Chris Minaker drove in two runs on a double to left field. The JetHawks manufactured a run in the third inning to stretch their lead back to two, after Thomas Neal led off the second inning with a mammoth home run to left field. Neal was impressive in the series; he hit for the cycle Tuesday night and homered on Wednesday.

Jordan Powell came on to work a scoreless ninth inning and earned his second win of the season. With the dramatic victory, the JetHawks won their second series of the season and wrapped up a winning homestand at 4-3

The JetHawks begin a seven-game roadtrip in Visalia on Friday night. The pregame show will begin at 6:50 PM on Magic 1340 and JetHawks.com. Righthander Jose Duran (1-2, 6.87) will square off against RHP Wes Roemer (2-0, 1.83). The JetHawks will return to the Hangar Friday, May 8th to face the Inland Empire.
